Brand thinking for a changing retail world

How brands
travel.

A brand can cross borders even when the retailer behind it does not.
The idea

What happens when a retailer-owned brand is sold through another retailer, in another market? It changes how we think about ownership, distribution and trust.

Who is this book for?

Practitioners

See what makes a brand travel.

For retailers, brand managers and strategists, the book offers a way to think about growth beyond the original store or market. It examines the roles of reputation, pricing, product category and retail partners, and turns them into practical questions for brand and market-entry decisions.

Scholars

Explore a new branding configuration.

The book introduces Hybrid Label Brands and connects the concept to research on private labels, consumer judgement and trust. It draws on doctoral research while remaining readable beyond the classroom, offering a framework to discuss, question and test further.

Curious readers

Understand the choices you make every day.

Why do you trust a product you have never tried, sometimes from a company you barely know? Starting with the familiar supermarket shelf, the book shows how price, packaging, reputation and experience help us decide when certainty is impossible.

The concept

Hybrid Label
Brands.

Retailer-owned brands sold by a different retailer in a market where the brand owner has no physical or digital retail presence.

Ownership, retail presence and the point of sale no longer sit in the same place. That shift raises practical questions about positioning, credibility and the signals consumers rely on when a familiar retailer is absent.
